header/alternator clearance issue

Hi,
I have installed the CI header in my '64 falcon with a 200ci motor. I had previously converted to an alternator. I am having clearance issues with the alternator and the header. It appears I will need to cut out my own bracket for the top mount of the alternator, adding an inch or so in length in order to swing the alternator away further. I didn't expect this would be an issue. Am I overlooking something? Has anyone else had this issue, and if so what did you do to correct it?
 
8) the correction is in fact either lengthening the bracket, or finding a longer one.
