does anyone out there know where to get ball and socket flanges for pacemaker headers. i need 2.0 at header to 2.25 exhast. already tried summit and jegs. they all have bigger stuff. thanx cocacolaman

Are you going to run single or dual exhaust?

If running duals, 2.25" is probably to large unless you are pushing 250HP or better. Anything less than 250HP, you should be using 2" diameter. Some shops even recommend 1.75" for lower HP applications.

A common misconception is that the larger the diameter, the better the system. But bigger isn’t always better. Systems that are too large in diameter can actually harm performance. Horsepower Depends on Flow not Pipe Diameter.

To determine which pipe diameters will be best for your system, decide what RPM range your engine will operate at, most of the time. Smaller diameter pipes will produce low to mid RPM torque. Larger diameters produce mid to high RPM torque.

If going single out, then 2.25 is OK, possibly 2.5" pipes.

Here's a nice chart that might help.

hi mike, iwill be running duals from a set of pacemaker headers which i purchased from you. you said stick with 2.0 instead of 2.25. the motor is mostly stock, port devider, header, bored .40 over and new autolite 1100 carb. my problem is i cant seem to find proper flanges to hook up to the headers without having exhast shop to make adapter pipe from header. maybe thats my only choice. what is your recom endation to hook up these headers to 2.0 pipes. thanx cocacolaman

These are the clamps I would recommend using.

Summit Racing - Part number WLK-33228
Dynomax Stainless Steel Butt-Joint Band Clamps, 2 in. Diameter $8.50 each
These stainless steel band-style exhaust clamps give you a 360 degree seal that won't leak. This particular style was created to "butt-joint" two pipes of the same diameter together without the need to fit one pipe inside the other. The polished clamps come with pre-attached hardware and Grade 8 bolts for high strength and temperature durability.

I like those. A litle high temp silicone in the slip joint (where pipe slides over header) keeps leaks away, but don't over do it.
