i found this header for sell pretty cheap for my 66, right now it doesnt look too good so my question is it possible to, or even worth the trouble of cleaning and painting it?
IMHO and if it were me, I would inspect it to see if its rusted out anywhere.
If it is in good condition have it sandblasted or glass beaded, then take it and have it coated with some kind of high temp coating.
My 86 LX 5.0L we took the factory shorties and had them glass beaded then brought them back and painted them with several coats of off the shelf 1500deg header paint that looked like ceramic coating and then baked them in the oven for a few hours at 450deg til his wife threw us out of the kitchen.
I sanded mine and painted it with the hi temp paint. Mine looked similar to yours. I did have to weld a small crack in the middle but it came out fine.
Then
Now
I did have a way to "bake" the paint in an type of oven before installing. They did discolor a bit after awhile of running but still look good.

THey look like they have the "HOOKER" tag welded on the #1 Pipe. I. f they are, they should have a model number stamped facing it on the port Flange -facing it.
As long as they aren't rusted through, any headers are worth freshening up. Some wire brush or media blasting and Hi-temp paint and the're ready to go...
They are hooker competion headers for the early mustangs.
They have 38" 1 1/2" primary pipes into 2 1/2" collectors.
This is what they look like brand new from jet-hot coatings.
