Those are head bolt specs. DON'T torque the header like that... 3/8" bolts can't take 65 lbs.... and there aren't 14 of them. The header should be torqued from the front of the engine, and working your way back. 25-30 ft/lbs.

Don, tighten the header bolts to the proper torque, then after you run the engine tighten the bolts every day for a week till the header gaskets get seated. torqueing the bolts on a header 1 time will not get the job done. I always check header bolt tightness every month after the gaskets seat. After the gaskets seat purchase the locking header bolts from mike at fspp. If you don't keep on top of header bolt tightness you are just looking for blown header gaskets. william

:D Just trying to pull Inliners' chain.

I'm not putting it on till tommorrow.

I don't think it will leak now that I had the head fixed. and the port divider installed. My brother welded metal between the flanges and I had it trued. I think I could run without a gasket, but I'm not gonna try that.

Thanks guys,
Don

I had such a hard time installing the Clifford header 6-2 dual that I removed the header and the head together. On the bench I massaged the pipes the get the front lower and two rear lower and the top 5 and 8 enough clearence to get a socket wrench on. The pipes were so close to the bolt openings i couldn't get a wrench on them while in the car. Then the head and header were slid back into the car and bolted on head and rockers and completed assembly. If you are buying a powdercoated header It had best not need any reshaping ofr you will crack the coating. Mine was only treated.
