Headers are GLOWING

I had some problems today with the stang but i made post to that already. I got her cranked and I was letting her idel for about 10 -15 min.
When I lifted the hood the headers were glowing. I got them from Mike at Ford Six Performance parts. I will try to contact him but is that ok.??? As soon as I shut the car off it went away. It was dark outside so ./... Has anyone seen this before?

If your headers were glowing after idling for that short of time you probably have the timing way too retarded. That's where I would start looking, anyway.

That...or a vacuum leak which I think may be related to your other problem as mentioned earlier. Check timing and vacuum. 10-12* BTDC.

A too lean condition can also casue it to run hot...seems to be contrary to what you'd think.

Check the mixture screws by turning them in until it stumbles, then backing out until it stumbles again and settingit in the middle of those two positions where it runs best.

If your timing is retarded (late - firing After TDC) the mixture will not have time to complete its burn and will continue to do so as it enters the exhaust.

Yeah 3 things will cause that:

retarded timing
running lean
vaccuum leak (running lean, but often this will be only on cylinders around the leak)

I talked to Holley today and i believe i was running lean. Also, between Holley,AZ and all ouyr advice I think i got her running cooler. I adjusted the mixer screws and slowed the idle to about 750 - 850 an I check the time again It was 10 BTDC so i think that was right.
