headers

Yeah, the biggest tranny the Pacemakers have to clear down here would be the C4. And #1 priority is clearing the steering box. As the headers are made for the short deck motors (not a 250), it may be possible to build something that just hangs down a little more. Unfortunately, the later style (post 1966) 250 headers will likely interfere in an early bay.

Just want to be sure the Clifford dual out will fit the OZ 2V head. Worried about 3,4 holes. The US manifold will not work unless welded. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks,
Don

Mike and CZLN6.....

I was reading this post after being out for a couple of days and I am curious why you would stay with a single out exhaust over the dual?

Would it be better to run a larger pipe out to a single in dual out muffler out through the valance?

The engine is pretty tweaked out, built 200 with 250 2v, more cam....

Just curious,

and if so, Mike do you have a y-pipe coated you can send with the cam?
How much? What do you think...?

Jim: From what I have been reading, the dual header is good for high rpm's. Also if you run true duals you have an exhaust on each side. ie. twin pipes and mufflers which means more money at the muffler shop. If you get Mike's header, you get a dual out header and with the "Y" pipe you still have the cost savings at the exhaust shop.

Don: Yes, the Cliffy headers work with the Oz head.

Well the cost issue is true... but not my main concern, I want a quieter ride and I want to use the stock 65 GT extensions and valance without losing performance... those are my main concerns.

Other than that.... I was originally looking into running a single back to a dual out muffler and running that through the valance... but not sure... I thought going dual would allow me to be more flexible... also I have to get around a set of Subframe connectors, with the stage2 cross section?

This Mustang is designed for high RPM travel, but will see lots of sitting in traffic too.

It has an overdrive T5 and high RPM cam.... it will see lots of 75-90mph driving.... the highways in GA are all out free-for-all.... when they move that is... sometimes they are parking lots.

Keep the thoughts and sugestions coming...

I am open to lots of opinions so I can make the best decision...

Jim - If you don't upsize your pipe size too much, I doubt the difference between the dual and single outlet would be very noticeable. Go no more than 2" (1 7/8" would probably be better) pipe for duals and you shouldn't lose much, if any, low end. Problem comes in when you upsize too much and lose exhaust velocity at lower rpms. Besides, the duals sound great too! But that's only my opinion. 8)

Now, if you've got to have a single outlet for your rear valance, well, then it might be better to have a single outlet header. However, any competent muffler shop can build a Y-pipe for you.

I was planning on staying under 2"....

that confirms my original plan, to stay dual...
I like the idea of dividing the exhaust into two mufflers.
Also opens up more choices for mufflers...

The valance is dual out....
I already have the tips and a shop that will custom run the lines for 350.00....
