Help Identifying Engine Year

There are two numbers that I can find on the engine:
C9DE-6090-M
and
16
C8DE
6015-B

From what limited knowledge I have they appear to be from a 1969.

the C9 denotes 1969, the C8 1968. there's some mix and match that goes on, like the C6 block (1966) came in both the 1966 mustang and my 1967 mustang (though i've heard there are C7 blocks out there too).

If you want to know the day and month the part was made you need to fine the date code

The second set of numbers 6090 and 6015 leads me to believe you are reading one off the block and one off the head/intake.

I'm trying to find out if i have a 200, a 250 or a 200 block and 250 head.

I am currently in the process of disassembling the entire car and trying to find out more about what engine I have to see what my options may be.

It takes some detective work to figure out from all the clues.
C9DE-6090-M this part’s engineering number (Casting number) decodes as

C = 1960's for the Decade of Manufacture
9 = For the Decade Year – This part was designed in 1969
D = The Car line this part was originally made for – In this case a Falcon note: this dose not mean the engine isn’t original for a Mustang, Maverick, Fairmont, Etc.
E = The Engineering Department the part originated from – In this case Engine
6090 = Ford Basic part number - 6090 is the number for a Cylinder Head
M = Design Change Level since original part design

C8DE-6015-B this part’s engineering number (Casting number) decodes as

C = 1960's for the Decade of Manufacture
8 = For the Decade Year – This part was designed in 1968
D = The Car line this part was originally designed for – Falcon note: see above also in 1970 D was changed to be for a Maverick when Falcon line was dropped.
E = The Engineering Department the part originated from – In this case Engine
6015 = Ford Basic part number - 6015 is the number for an engine block
B = Design Change Level since original part design

To know the true year of the part you also need to find the date code of the part example 8J17

If it still has the original engine in the car check the Vin code you can find it in a few different places
 Under the hood on driver's side inter fender panel
 From 1968 up looking though windshield on the dash passenger side in 1968, on driver’s side 1969 up
 A partial VIN is stamped on the back of an original Engine Block (1968-1973)
 The Warranty tag on driver door (if has not been replaced) or on the later models can be on the door jam.

Example Vin for a 1969 Mustang 9R02 L01235
9 = year 1969
R = Assembly plant Code = San Jose, California
02 = Body Code = 02 Sportsroof (Fastback)
L = Engine Code = I6 250 CID 1V
T = Engine Code = I6 200 CID 1V
01235 = Consecutive Unit Code = number 1,235th Mustang to be built at San Jose plant in 1969
The door tag would also give you the codes for trans, rear axle, DSO (area car was built for) paint color, interior and date car rolled off the line.

Count the water pump bolts, 3 bolts - 200, 4 bolts - 250. Also the 250 has the starter next to the oil pan, low mounted starter; the 200 with that block casting would have a starter above the oil pan, high mounted starter.
