Sorry guys another a/c question on my 82 stang. My a/c blew its fuse so i traced and replaced a couple of wires on it, ran for a day, now the fuse blew again !!! It had a 30 amp and i went ahead and put a 20 amp in it to try !?!?! Any ideas, i am exhausted ?!?!?!?

Have you tested between there to see if you have a short somewhere that is over loading it?

well I put an inline fuse on the wire running directly to the a/c clutch tp see if that is where my short is??? it hasn't shorted yet. Anyone know what the connection looks like on the clutch?? ( the litle black wire) on a 1982 inline 6

8) i know the compressor clutch draws a heavy load when first activated. try putting a 30amp fuse back in, as likely that was what came from the factory.

yeah I did that bot i put another fuse on the line so far so good .

Check and make sure that none of the lines are bent or pinched. The compressor will also draw a lot of amps if it has to work harder to move the Freon.

Good luck, Ric.

The right way to check this would be to plug a 20 amp meter into the fuse holder and find out how much current your electric clutch on the compressor is drawing. I've never measured the current, but would be surprised by more than 5 amps. If you have no meter, does your clutch get hot after it has been engaged for a while? Things usually get hot when they draw too much current.
