help with triple webers!!

Hi John,
Just saw your email. What type Werbers do you have? I have a 250-6 with an Aussie head and (3)-45DCOE Webers. When first run I thought it was too rich. I contacted Pierce Manifolds in Gilroy. Calif : 408-842-6667 (www.piercemanifolds.com ). They specalize in Webers. I told them what motor, carbs. cam, compression etc I had, and they suggested what jets I should be using. After 2 conversations with them I have it running perfectly.

Give them a call, Hotrod Bill

You might want to ask the gearing question in the drivetrain section. I don't have much experience with automatics.

so what about 3:56 with a c-4?
Top gear in the automatics, 3 spd & 4 spd manuals were all 1:1, so the top gear rpms would be the same.

I have the 34 ich carbs-i called pierce and they are sending me the proper jets-I sure hope this takes care of business! Maybe I'll go with 3:23 gears instead. I just want this thing to leave the line like a rocket and still go on the freeway if needed(have cake and eat it too?)I'm really happy that others have had the same problems with setting up these carbs-at least I know I'm not an idiot(debatable!) I was really getting frustrated-YOU GUYS ARE GREAT! hope Santa puts something chrome under the tree for ya!

Re gearing, there are a few varying thoughts.

Talk with Ofkenokee, a Comet 200 2V punter who has a C5 and heavy car to lug around. He runs a set of 2.83 or 3.20 gears. A triple carb engine has similar performance to a 2V Aussie engine.

In my opinion, the ideal ratio is always 3.23 or 3.20:1

ITS POINTLESS TO CHANGE DIFF RATIOS UNLESS YOU NEED TO!!!

As you've got a fairly heavy car, then stick with the 3.56:1 gears meantime. If you feel it revs to hard at 70 mph, then go to a numerically lower ratio and save on gas with a loss in off the mark performance

The 3.23:1's are a better diff, but you'll never get the right gearing unless you change to a T5 transmission. The stock auto converter is rather tight, so it hooks up at low revs. Running a 3.23:1 gear in a 3000 pound car isn't a good idea unless you are able to source a better transmission.

Look at setting the maximum rpm limit of 3600 rpm, or 75 mph. As long as it is well cooled and the engine is in good shape, you'll be happy.

There are other space kadett options like gear vendors overdrives and aods, and such like, but they are sky high for cost. The aod conversion isn't available off the shelf, and requires a different flexplate and a 2350 rpm coverter. Keep away from the cost!
