welcome to our family

about that austraila stuf.....

Welcome Adam,

Sure would like some insight as to how difficult it was to put a 300 in the 65 stang. This is one that I have been thinking about for some time now. I aasume that engine a heavy (do you need a V8 front end?). I also assume it is large, i.e., major mount location / radiator issues. I guess my real question is, how difficult is it.

Well on a scale from 1-10 on the hardness of putting a 300 in a stang would probly be a 7.5.... Depending on your Axle and suspention, would tell you if you need to change it to a V8 suspendtion, axel and drive line. if you have a 5 lug suspention like my stang theirs no need to. At one time acourding to the VIN # had a 289 in it at one time, dont ask what happend to the 289 i dont know i just got it from the junk yard and restored it. The most trouble I had was making the transmition line up with the motor for some reason the flywheel would not line up. I ended up replacing the transmition, with a C6. I guess the crank on the 300 had i 4 lug connection and the C4 transmiton had a 3 lug. It is all your choice of the rout you want to go i had hood clearence problems so i put on a air scoop that was pritty expensive to do but i love the 300.

ps what parts u looking at getting from Ford Australia i can probly place an order in a week or 2. Is anyone here going to Detroit for fords Birthday and car show thing. It is an event starting on the 10th of June where all classic for owners party race and show there cars it is an awsome event probly the best car show around. This year will be the best of all best cause of fords 100th birthday as you might know it is June 16. i have gone almost every year. last year a group of chevy owners drove there crappy cars down mustang dr. man you should have seen the fight and race lets just say those chevy owners will never come on ford territory agian.
