I am really interested in buying a 2V carb. This 500cfm carb seems to be a very reasonably priced one. Its around 260 bucks. I was just wondering how to find out what size adapter i need for my 80 200. I think its called the bolt hole centers.

Thanks alot dustin.

8) the triple carb set up is not overall difficult to install, but it does require machine work. the basic kit is available from a few sources, though they are getting harder to find these days. installing two carbs on a three carb set up is not a good idea, but running one carb on the three carb system, just block the two end ports, is not a bad way to go until you can buy the third carb.

Dustin,

New carbs are all pricey, I'd go for a used one and start developing that very useful skill set. Later, you will collect carbs much the same way your wife collects shoes. Although, my wife is winning that race.
When I was about your age I began to get serious about rebuilding my own carbs and it has helped ever since. Still so much I don't know, but I am not afraid to tackle any halfway clean Autolite or Holley and make it a runner. :)

First off that 500 Holley 2v (500cfm at 3.0" Hg) is waaay big for your stock 200.
You'd need to be up near 200hp before you'd need one that big.
What I would do instead is go hunting, junkyards or swapmeets (or even here on the forum) for a fairly clean looking Autolite 2100 or Holley 2300 (the smaller 350cfm style) but I'd start with the Autolite 2100, easier to see how they work, easier to clean, less prone to leak, better on gas, etc. I would not worry about the ideal size, since whichever Autolite 2100 you likely come across will be "ok" if not ideal. Main thing is one that is clean and runs right. Just try it on the car, then rebuild it if it doesn't run good.
The venturi size will be stamped on the side, either 0.98", 1.01, 1.02, 1.08, 1.14, 1.21, 1.23 or (very rare) 1.33. Smaller is better for your stocker, and it will always be useful as a spare "test" carb. They are pretty common, 20 bucks or so if you look and you're not picky about a certain model.

Meanwhile I am hunting down some details about your car so I can plug it into the Gonkulator computer and see what might make it run on a limited budget. :hmmm:

In any case, the 1st step I'd suggest is, after a good tune, a trip to the dragstrip!
Get a few runs on the stock setup, it will be slow but you'll never get this info again and it is great to compare to and for knowing what to do next.

In my experience the most dangerous thing about drag racing is the drive to the strip during rush hour. It is a very safe thing to do and fun.

wow man thats alot of helpful info i really appreciate it. I will look around for the holly because my engine cam stock with a holly 1100 i think thats what it is. I will look real hard and if i can one i will rebuild it and slap it on to see what kind of performance upgrade it does. I appreciate the "gonkulator" thing i hope it helps. Right now i am not looking for 200hp just a little more boost so i wont be to embarresed to pull out into traffic with a buddie beside me. (there 4 cylinders would kick my ass.)

Can you look for the following info about your car:
1. Automatic trans I assume?
2. Rear end ratio?
3. Exhaust - what is on there now? Stock single muff? Can you measure the pipe diameter under the car and back at the rear?
that will help get started.
I always like to weigh the car on a scale too, full of gas, spare, no junk in it, as a base.
If not handy you can usually weigh it at the strip.

Your stock carb should be a Holley 1946 I think unless it was changed - :?:

I have a 350cfm 2bbl Holley for sale. I was told it might need a rebuild since it hasn't been used in several years. Just upgrade it to electric choke or just use the manual choke on it. Let me know I should be able to get you the part number and some pictures.
