holley 1940 Question

is there more than one type of holley 1940? mine is nothing like a stock carb, mine has a much bigger butterfly and will not bolt up directly but has the same bolt pattern, perhaps it went to a 250? hauls ass when it was working right

Howdy Back:

Yes, The Holley 1940 is a generic "FOMOCO Service replacement" carb for all versions and applications of the Autolite 1100 and 1101s used on 144, 170, 200, 223, 240, 250, 262 & 300, from 1960 through to early 70's. Autolite went out of the carb business in the 1969 year. The 1940s came with SCV and Non-SCV, manual chokes and autos, for auto trans and manual trans. IIRC bolt spacing remained a constant, however throttle bore mimiced the smaller diameter ( 1 7/16") of the 1100 and the larger TB ( 1 11/16") of the 1101.

So it is possible that your 1940 was of the 1101 type application for a cfm of 210 compared to 185 on the 200 1100s .

Adios, David

So seeing as the 1940 may have the SCV is it plugged the same way as the SCV on the other carbs with the SCV?
