Tried doing a search is there a spec sheet or a break down chart my shop manual only has the carter and autolight figures.

Howdy:

I've yet to see a spec sheet on this carb. I can tell you that the 1940 became FoMoCo's service replacement for 1100 & 1101s after Autolite ended production in 1969. They came is several itterations for 200, 240, 300s and for the '69 250 Carter RBS.

They are noted for rough idle and poor mileage.

If you can find out anything else on thes carbs please share the info. There are sure a bunck around.

I run a 1940 with consistant 20+ mpg never a rough idle or any problem, 30k so far.
I have been considering the Pony Carb upgrade as it's touted as better mpg. At $400 though I just can't seem to make the call. :(

Howdy back:

I'd stick with the 1100 if it is serviceable and sound. Rebuild it for the new accelerator pump pieces.

LaGasta- Have you rebuilt your 1940? Any other tuning advice for it?

I did have to swap out the accelerator pump after the car had sat at the body and paint shop for over six months. That's the only time I ever tore it apart. No real tips for tuning as once the idle is set I don't really ever touch it.
