I am having trouble trying to place a holley 500 on my aussie 2V head. the studs on the intake come up through the adapter and I cannot place the carb flush on the adapter because of this. Can I just remove these studs with a stud remover? I am not sure that they are not permanently attached to the intake. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, the studs are removable. Your carb adapter should have come with bolts to attach the adapter to the manifold. Then the carb mounts to the adapter via new studs that should have been included also.

Thanks AZ coupe, I'll try the stud remover on the studs, and the adapter did come with all the nuts and bolts I should need.

I have noticed on a couple of manifolds, that some of the studs have been set in place with JB weld, etc. due to the age of the manifolds and the threads being striped out. So use a bit of TLC.

If the studs have been Loctited in, it may be necessay to heat them. A heavy duty electrical soldering iron with a large glob of solder for effective heat transfer, is one of my preferred means.

From memory, the studs are fine for the carb side, and coarse into the manifold. I normally back them out by locking two nuts together, and twisting from there.

To get the best from the Holley, expect some fiddling on the dyno. It will outperform the Stromberg in hi-po applications, when the fuel curve is right.

Cheers, Adam.

Don,

I have two Strombergs that are used and need a rebuild. If you want one let me know and I'll send one to you. Free, if you pay for shipping. Can include the original air cleaner too, if so desired.

Thanks for the offer...my 200 rebuild is stock 81 big bell/C5 with the exception of being bored .030 and the addition of your OZ 250 2v head and headers. I have searched the forum and keep getting more confused. The Holley 5200 and Autolite 2100 I see referenced do not seem to still be in production. I went to the Holley site and see the 2100 350 cfm model and wonder if this would be the best for me. My goal is a dependable daily driver with decent gas mileage and power to pass when needed. Something I did not have with the 170/2 speed combo.

Stovebolt sell's rebuilt Holley 5200 for $65.00 or NOS for $75.00 I have had him send me two and both were will worth the money!

And he is just plan easy to deal with and seams to know alot and will take the time to explain things!!

Here's the Holley mounted atop the Aussie 2V, it ran very good and got great gas mileage!

I'm running a Holley 500 cfm and I can tell you on a stock cam, there's very little differance except the gas mileage  Use a fairmont gas linkage and bracket to bridge the valve cover, works real good!
BTW my 200 is .030 over and mostly stock and on the dyno I got 105 HP at the rear wheels, you should too! And it does drive sweet!

You are right, Tom is easy to deal with. Fixed me right up. Hopefully I'll have it running soon.

Thanks,
Don
