It might cost more but you can't go past a GT35/40R for performance on a six cylinder.

Hi

I assume it's the good ole' slant six you're talking about. Have you visited this site

http://www.slantsix.org/

them boys there know how to make a slant six fly. In Finland, where I'm from, we have one drag racer who runs 11's or if I'm not wrong high 10's with a turboed slant six in a 65 or so Valiant.

Cheers,

Yeah, but it's only money.

but where to find good cheap turbo's :?:

when I see something good on ebay prices go up so high it be better to buy a new one :(

no I am located in the Caribbean makes it more difficult :(

I see allot of "garretts" on ebay afraid of buying them...of being immitations

i bought a rebuilt turbo from http://www.blaastperformance.com. It seems to be a good quality rebuild with genuine garrett parts. They are located in Canada. Check them out as they offer good prices and are willing to work with you. They havea wide selection of different sized housings and the such.

Here's the finnish turboed slant six and it was a 1966 valiant.

http://koti.mbnet.fi/trc/

best ever being 10,63sec at 200km/h (that's 124.3 mph)

in case you're interested. I've seen the car race and it's a party on wheels. No doubt a six can fly with turbo's. And this has been done many times over at the slant six forum too.

EDIT: hmm, it seems to have a holset.

I found a turbo locally it's a mitsubishi turbo brand new but it looks big

I am looking around if I can find a smaller exhaust houing for it but nothing

if anyone can help me out this it thye number on the compressor housing

49174-50-00 7B

it's looks like this

A BIG one.

Looks like a H1C or H1E

X, measure the diameter of the inlet wheel blades

It´s a custom made HX50.

I´m going to try Schwitzer S2BG for my slant. Got it pretty cheap and it´s new.

In fact I've got a Holset 4LGK which is a huge turbo as well. Haven't really yet decided what to do with it. The only engine I have for which it would be suitable has a displacement of 500 cubic inches. For our beloved sixes that 4LGK would be a bit of an overkill. It's got clockable halves, split exhaust and stuff. An old diesel rig turbo out of a 11-liter truck.

Oh yes I am aware of the fact that most "I found this on the junkyard" stories don't end well. I haven't found a map for that turbo and intend to take it over to a knowledgeable turbo shop, to evaluate how it would function with the 500 incher.

Quite possibly there would be ample torque out of a turbo intercooler 500.

Certainly there are multiple paths to turbocharging and I firmly believe in also constructing turboed daily driver inline engines, with the most focus on improving the already nice mid-range torque.

Best wishes to all of your projects and a big hi to countrymen involved in the turbo slant six. I hope you realize how much appreciation there is around the country in regards to your efforts. Briefly stated, "we like it and like it a lot".

The Slant six shown shows double wastegates, one for each side of the divided exaust...i never thought about doing it that way...do you think that is effective and efficianet enough?...obviously by the times hes running, it must be working well, i might integreate that idea into my project....

It works as long as they are BOTH quality made wastegates. He did that to keep the turbine divided all the way to the wheel.

Some guys with divided housings just tap into the pipe for the 'gate right before the turbine, getting a little from each

that was my original plan, but my space and design would definately allow for two on each side as to tapping from the center.

the wastegate I have is the Turbonetics Evolution, im sure this is of good enouhg quality that another one will be most likely of the same craftsmenship and be mostly identical to no less than 99%

matthew neuharth is using a crossover to run one wastegate on his divided housing.
