I want to know how to put Nitrous on my 200 CI. 6.If anybody has any idea i would glady appeciate it. Thanks.

Check any dude with 'Import' in his user id! He has done this.

My suggestion, (not based on me having done it my self though) is to run a #2300 Holley 350 or 500 carb, and use the Holley #2300 baseplate. The standard V8 4-bbl plate is similar. They are available if you scratch around. MustangGeezer has a neat link on how he fited his #2300 Holley 500 2-bb carb.

The standard rule is you take the stock hp level, and add another 50%.(Multiply it by 1.5) So MustangGeezer has about 155 hp worth of jetted 500 Holley there with 68 jets, and its possible that there could be 230 plus with Nitrous.

Most stock 200's would have trouble doing 90 flywheel hp as installed. With the stock single jug carby being superheated by the exhast port under the carb, you'll have to look at an exhast port divider and look at a bigger log intake manifold, or a milled adaptor like MustangGeezer's.

On any six cylinder engine, fuel air mix is not well distributed, and any thing you can do to help this will give aditional power.

Go for it man! You just can't go wrong with it! You can use a lot of diffrent brands and kits to do it. Depending on how much N2O you are going to spray you may need a bigger kit. I use an old NOS "Cheater" kit and use a(1) fogger nozzle under the carb on my car. Check out my web page for some pics. I have ran it with nothing but great luck for a very long time and went through lots of bottles of nitrous. I have the jets to run 50, 75, 100, ect. You can also use a nitrous plate under your carb. I think Alex is going to hook that up soon! Or you can use six fogger, nozzles one for each cylnder but that can get expensive quick. That would be the best way but I would not mess with it at all unless you plan to spray over 150 a lot. I sprayed 100 on mine for a long time and would not be scared to go 125 or 150 with my setup. You will also need to upgrade your fuel pump. I used a Carter "strip" pump for a SBC and put a 200 pump arm in it. You will also need a regulator for the fuel. I used a simple Holley one. Good ignition is always good but you can get away with stock stuff if you are using a small shot of nitrous. I hope that awnsers a few of your questions. If you have any questions just let me know and I will do my best to help you.

Nitrous is the epitomy of "bang for buck". The thing you have to remember with N2O is that you have to use it wisely. First upgrade your fuel system and your ignition system (electric fuel pump, pressure regulator, fuel press. gauge, MSD ignition and coil, better cables) Once you have done this there's several ways to inject the nitrous into the engine. I'm currently working on a set-up like the one XE described. 2BBL Holley mounted on a flat log head (direct mount) and a NOS 2BBL nitrous injector plate.....

The only problem I see with this set-up is that there is not enough room between the valve cover and the nitrous inlet on the injector plate(not even for a 90 degree elbow)
I guess I'll have to mount the plate a little higher with a spacer, hopefully it will clear the hood.

Well Thanks guys you have really given me some ideas on how to put nitrous on my I6. The only problem i have is which setup i should run. Import Killer has a nice setup that i think will work for me better b/c like MR said that plate system might be a hassle to hook up, plus i am not looking for much added horsepower. I just want that little extra punch at the strip. Now i need to know how IK put his on so i can have a visual aid of somewhat. Thanks.

I think the plate and the fogger nozzle will be close in performance so either one should be fine. I will get some better pics of my nitrous for you. The pics on that web page are old and crappy.

The way that XE and Alex explained is exactly how I'm going to set up mine next year! Hopefully I can reach that 230-250 hp number with a 50 or 75 hp shot

If the valve cover is in the way for the line, some modifying to the valve cover with a ball pein hammer will do the trick!

Yep, there space between the vlave springs, engough to make it work for all of us. I just measured.

The log is an amazing piece of machinery for making cost effective heat on the street.

I sent NOS a carb gasket, and they made me a plate system, using a Fogger nozzle. I have also modified the adapter plate, by cutting off the EGR valve, and tapping the hole for the fogger nozzle. Using a 60hp system, my car picked up from 11.40's to 9.90's in the 1/8 mile. That was back in the early 80's, when new Mustangs could barely run that...

You are running those times with a I6? That is pretty good. How did you do your setup :?:

Guys, the thing is I'm trying to mount the injector plate closest to the log. My modified log head looks something like this...
Modified-Manifold.jpg

sooo I'm mounting the injector plate right on top of this....then a 1 inch phenolic spacer and then the carb....the reason why I opted to do it this way is because the phenolic spacer has two holes...

...and I don't know if this will create any disturbance in the N2O/FUEL mix when going into the motor...

The 1bbl system I have is 1/2" plate, with the nozzle tapped into that. The pic above would be easy, just tap into the side of the plate on the intake, then put the two holed spacer and carb on top. If I had a camera, I'd show mine. It really is simple.

Yeah Duane i would like to see yours so i can have something to look at. But yeah i think i am going to do the setup with the plate and tap into that then put the spacer on and then the carb. That is for a 2bl correct?

Falcon, are you going to a 2bbl? If not, the way I did mine was real easy, since I always had lots of nitrous stuff, I just got the plate, and used some old solenoids and lines. I'm sure NOS could set you up with the plate and Fogger set-up. It was just a universal one hole plate, about 1/2" thick, and then they put the nozzle in the side, away from the valve cover. If you lived closer, we could put it on yours  It really wakes up the 60ft's!

I already have a Holley 2bbl on my car. Yeah if i was closer that would be cool to put it on and see what it would do. So your setup is for a 2bbl? If it is then can you get some pics of it. Thanks.

Alex,

As far as the 2 holes versus the oval plate you can do the following;

1.) Carb on top
2.) Phenolic spacer with 2 holes next
3.) Oval nitrous spacer plate.
4.) Log intake mounting plate (oval opening).

As long as its in that order it should be allright. If you run the carb then nitrous spacer plate then the phenolic spacer then the oval log mounting plate, it would create to much turbulence in my opinion!

I think that the nitrous fuel mix is actually sprayed out to the side at a 90 degreee angle instead of being sprayed straight down (I think...)

Thanks Doug, this exactly the way I want to mount it, the other way you described I believe would create to much turbulence.....but this is where I ran into trouble, it's probably due to the way I mounted the log mounting plate I tried to center it as much as I could without paying attention to the VC clearance.....I guess I'll have to do a little "persuading" like you suggested....(but it's a brand new chrome VC  )

On another note I think it's the fuel that comes out at a 90 deg angle and the nitrous comes straight down on top of it to atomize the fuel.....

later guys...

I had the same problem when I mounted mine....never gave the valve cover a thought until it was to late....

When you get it all together, you need to update your website with some new pictures of it
