how much horse power do you have???

I decided long ago that my 4.1 84 Falcon could really haul some a*s. Mine! It's 82 kg and falls through slate roofs and triggers land mines sooner than yours Addo.

Each time I've calculated my actual 1/4 mile time, I've added 440 pounds to the curb weight to factor in me, the wife, and a tank of gas. That usally works in with how car mags do there tests. With 150 horses like my car used to have, and 3605lb all up, the 1/4 mile can only be 16.8 seconds with all optimised gears. I did a hand time with me and two guys and got 17.5 seconds. Speed at end of quarter was about 80 mph. If you use a Moroso wheel, I'll use the formuaes the car tech people use to calculate it all. Thankfully, people are more honest now than the old days, and there are heaps of books and websites to help you calculate peek power.

My car is now 1.5 seconds faster over the quarter, so it should be hitting the 180 hp mark on LP gas. The torque is the thing. Because it launches hard it wins traffic lights Grand Prix races verses heaps of good equipment like Evo Lancer GSR'S, Vtec and big blocks and small block Falcons. After first 50 yards I've won, and there booked!

 did all the calculations and came up with 364hp.i thought about 350hp as it came up with 245rear wheel hp on the dyno.the motor in question is my 265 hemi chrysler inline 6.basic specs are 060" over 290degree cam, alloy raced preped head, roller rockers,12.7:1comp,headers and twin 2 1/2" exahausts, tripple 225 impco propane mixers(on a progressive linkage),electric water pump and rad fan, full electronic msd ignition, witha gear drive coupled to a 904 torque-flite driving a 3.45:1 rear end.30"tall tyres give an overall gear ratio of 26mph per 1000rpm's.on the open road it gets 16-18 m/gall and the one time i raced it(in full street trim,1923 buick roadster of 1000kg(2300lb)at the local eastern creek streetmeet the best time was 12.6 at 112mph.it gave the othe v8 powerd rods,in my club, a real fright with only a big block bucket beating me(traction is the secret)even at this hp level the car is very sedate to drive(even the wife drives it)until the secondary carbs are opend up.revs are limited to 6200rpm but he motor was built to go up to about 7000.
