Hmm, since you have a 250 I'd say go for an Automatic Overdrive, that is if youre stuck wanting an automatic. With that, you could run lower gears since it has that fourth gear.

Oh to be young again :lol:
My 300/aod/3.08 f-150 will do a brake burn,BUT,keep this in mind;

1) watch your eng temp, if it starts getting hot STOP!!!!!!
2) watch rpm, 3000 is plenty and won't hurt the motor, flat foot it, and when the rev's come up,ease off the throttle to keep it at 3000. Just letting it scream at valve float rpm's only impresses the f@#$ing idiots who want you to blow up for their entertainment!
3)if you don't have a tranny temp gauge, limit the burn out time. the only thing to hurt an auto is heat caused by the converter.
4) to add to 3 on heat, if you go with a higher stall converter you MUST run a second cooler. plumb it inline AFTER your stock cooler in the rad.
5)get a line lock if your going to do it a lot. otherwise your wearing out your rear right brake assy.
6) all else fails,cut it hard right, then punch it, the natural tendency is to lift the right tire and this will help get started.you will only have to move a foot or two and then get back on the brakes.

If your going to do something,DO IT RIGHT!!
I've seen many kids do neutral drops and stuff then need a tow home when they grenade it. and yes everybody is laughing AT them. Do a burnout then cruise away, only an idiot destroys his own equipment for strangers amusement.

I used a washer bottle on the right rear only, and filled with water or bleach, had a tranny temp guage and a manual hyd lock out of a pulp truck. pump up the brakes, lock front and turn on the water. 67 falcon with 170/auto/3.89.
I used to go to the dump and get old tires and put them on the rim with two large screw drivers...(am I that old)?

I know that I`ll nead a trans cooler just didn` right it down sorry :?
one day if I can ever find a maverick , comet , mustang or what ever with a stick shift tranny I`ll get the linkege, put a T5 in the mav with 3.50:1 gears and ether way I`ll get a locker or a posi

i think i gotta problem. when i brak and hammer it, the comet just stall. perhaps it is my brake proportionment valve? also i thought 2.79's were 8 and a half inches

do you just slam you`r foot to the floor or do ya do it kinda slow ? you probly need to "fine toon" you`r carb
