Interesting thread. I made a simple change to my plugs and the engine runs better. I know folks go to a lot of trouble indexing their plugs but this works well too and is simple.
I ground the negative electrode almost to a point. I started the taper just past the bend and tapered it to the end over the center electrode. I shortened the negative so the end was just past the center of the electrode, about 2/3 the way across.
It looks like a point when you're done but not completely sharp. I left about .020" flat at the end.
This seemed to let the flame kernel out from under the electrode faster for a better burn. I ran this on my high compression Harley (10.5:1) with dual plugs, and a turbo'd Honda I was running with 21 lbs manifold pressure. Seemed to work or maybe it was just in my head. It's hard to tell with all the voices in there....
Plugs are cheap. Try it yourself!
