After rebuilding my engine and increasing the CR to about 9.2:1, I believe my starter went out.

It was really sluggish all the time, so I worried that my battery was dying, but it had a full charge.

I was out working on it a few days ago, and I started my engine up (sluggishly of course). After turning it off, I wanted to start it back up, but i turned the key and it made this horrible grinding noise.

I'm pretty sure its the starter, as a result of the load the extra CR has put on it. Anyone have any suggestions? I dont believe I need a high torque starter or anything like that, just a rebuilt stock with a good warranty. Let me know what you guys think.

was it a ford starter or parts store starter? I have had problems in the past with parts store starters.... I had one only last 6 months before it took a crap. even had one puke the bendix into my bell housing.

if you need a starter for an auto I do have one sitting here (I think a ford oem?) you can have it for shipping (prob like $20 or so)

Yea, it was a ford starter. I'm not sure if ill take you up on that offer yet, ill let you know.
