I would like some recommendations for a turbo cam

Something hydraulic, operating around 7.5-8lbs boost. Engine will have around 8.5:1CR cast pistons.

Vehicle weight would be about 3100lbs, C4 automatic transmission, and 3.55:1 traction lock 8.8"

Would be used in a log head motor (the 91 convertible frame repairs ate my CI head funds). Head is a ported and polished 66 log head.

Not sure on induction but will be some form of fuel injection. Planning on trying to use 99 Mustang 90deg intake elbow with 70mm throttle body.

Plan on 3" exhaust and T3 turbo mounted to exhaust manifold.

Would love to hit over 175 at flywheel but not sure if thats possible with such low boost. If Ihad forged pistons I would O-ring block and crank that baby up to 12-16lbs.

If only there were companies that did nothing but R&D camshafts....hmmmm...

yeah, Im a smartass.

Nice project though, good luck!

I should also add I would like to buy the cam from Classic Inlines so I can support Mike's business.

So...

Which one of the cams that Classic Inlines offers would be best for a Turbo app?

I support Mike every chance I get, but I sure like the service for custom cams at bulletcams.com, give them all your information and what you are trying to do and they will grind a cam for your needs and ship it in two days for 175.00 dollars, I have had two ground by them, ask for the old man that used to be one of the owners, hes's been doing custom cams for 27 years, just great service and not all the bs just to talk to someone like crane and comp cams.

Idon't know if Mike has a mild enough cam for you, the 264 at 112 might work ok, give Mike a call he will tell you straight up.

I would probably use the ISKY 321-TA cam. It is made by ISKY specifically for mild turbo applications like yours. When run on simulators like Engine Analyzer Pro, the results of this cam look very promising. It provides good top end power without sacrificing low end torque and drivability.

Or, at least thats my 2 cents worth.

I don't think you can buy it from Mike though, but if you are building a new engine, I'm sure he'll still get a lot of business from you.

I sent in a can quote from Clay Smith. I will then see if I can buy it through Classic Inline's so Mike gets credit for it.

I know he's been real busy as of late.

I had a 258H? I think that I was plannign on running. just slightly more agressive than stock.

drove a turbo 2.3L ranger last month with a A237(I think that is it) motorsports cam....lost ALOT of bottom/low end and they even dialed back the cam to try regaining some.....pulled great up top though.

I think it had around .420 lift but forget the overlap and durations. great for a track car but not sure about a daily driven street car (btw with it retarded a couples degrees it ran IN BOOST 2-3psi cruising at 80mph....at part throttle but still gets low 20's for mileage...)

truck is on a stock tune and motor other than the cam and a front mount (still a SVO T3)

granted a custom grind would prob net better results.
