I have a 68 Mustang with an I6 and 3 speed automatic transmission. My goall is to get a 4 speed manual in there and beef up the motor. Does anyone know what would be involved and what the best things to do would be?

There are a lot of guys and gals here that know way too much about these motors. These forums are stocked full of helpfull info you just gotta dive in and start digging around, i'm sure any question you have can be answered there and if not, well i've never had any problem getting advice from the gang.

A very good place to start would be is the Falcon six cylinder prformance handbook,it eliminates alot of guessing and homework that you would have to do,and needless to say you will avoid alot of headaches, with parts interchange, tuning etc.

Get the Performance Handbook and you will be glad. Then read it at least twice to absorb all the good information inside.

I wish I had found and read it before building and installing my motor, but a new plan is in the works.

The 250 in my 69 mustang is strong, powerful and quick, but it will not accelerate as fast as a 289. On the other hand he will have to stop for fuel WAY before me. I love mine and I was the only inline six at a meet last weekend that had 38 mustangs.

get another 200 or 250 motor from a junk yard and beef that one up, that way you can still drive your car around and be able to build the motor on a stand. then once you are happy with the mods you can drop it in and enjoy without too much down time. do you have any idea as far as goals for this project??
