I'm back baby! I'm back!

After a few days of feeling like I was a complete failure I decided that a 40-year-old pain in the ass car was not going to get the best of me. This was by far the biggest battle (next to removing the old, stock, rusted header which took over a week) I have fought with the Mustang.

The cable throttle is now installed and it works well. I am still trying to look for little problems with the pedal but I will need to take it for a test spin for that. I was in the garage for nearly six hours last night fabricating a setup for the cable throttle. After that I had to make an adapter to bolt the air cleaner to the carburetor. I was in the garage until slightly after 1 a.m. I was determined to make a car show today but I did not. I still cannot get the car running smoothly.

For the cable setup I used a V8 pedal rod and a 36-inch Lokar cable from Summit Racing. I bolted some aluminum flat stock to the carburetor adapter to achieve a straight pull from the cable. I am sorry I cannot provide you with pictures right away.

I drove the Mustang out of the garage under its own power for the first time in months! It felt great! :D

KustomSkylark: Thank you for the pictures. Looking at them made me realize that I could bolt a cable bracket right to the adapter. Thanks!

Slade: Thank you for the write up on the your cable throttle installation.

Steve-O: Thank you for providing me with the V8 pedal rod.

Thank You to everyone else who helped me out by giving me suggestions and telling me to hang in there when things got rough.

Yeah...good job.

Yeah, I forget about the adaptor brackets. They are nice, but I couldn't really fit them due to the orientation of my 4V carb (primaries parallel to the crank) which is why I pull from the valve cover. I tend to forget that changes it some.
