In the market for a new radiator!

Just checkin on some prices here. I need a new radiator to replace my factory 2-row one. What should I go with and how much should I spend? I was looking at one of the AFCO radiators that Jack got for his stang. Is it a good buy? I am tired of having the top tank on my stock brass one come loose and leak every 6 months!!!!

P.S. What are the stock dimenstions for the 6 cyl, 2 row rad? I had to leave my car at my uncle's shop until I can get the new one.

I got my 3 row from Mustangs unlimited. They sell 3-rows for the 6 cylinder mustangs. Fit like a charm, everything lined up perfect. 2 years later, still no problems and no complaints.

Hey, I'm also in the market for a new radiator.. But I have a 66 Ford Falcon Futura with a 200. Would that Mustang one fit in my falcon right?

Or if anyone knew where I could get one for a decent price, that'd be great, as my falcon is my every day driver and I'm currently stuck.

I might start a new thread but this one wasn't too old.

Belive it or not, Auto Zone has a nice 3-row for a '60s mustang w/ a 200. It fits just fine in my '63, a little tight, the fan is rather close to the radiator. However, I can't get the car to overheat (at all, I've tried) & oddly enough the heater works better. Unfortunately I don't have the part # right here, but I can look around for it (I know I wrote it down somewere). I'm sure a '66 has plently of room for this radiator.

Well i live in pensacola and my car club was driving over to mobile for a dyno day and my friends lightning threw a rock through my radiator. I got it to the dyno shop, ran to an advance auto parts and they happend to have one, bought it installed it and it worked perfect. After later inspection the radiator turned out to be a 3 row, and my engine has been running much much cooler then the 2 row and has made a big differance.

Also, on mine there's those tubes going in the bottom for oil or the transmission or something. I've seen both mentioned, I'm not sure what actually goes in there, and on the mustangs unlimited site it didn't look like the 3 row had those?

Those tubes run transmission oil from your automatic transmission up to the radiator to cool it off during normal engine operation, or to warm it up at startup. You can buy aftermarket transmission coolers but I do not know much about them and you would have to find a place to mount it.

for a '66, i dont' think it would matter
but here, try this

measure the dimensions of your radiator, paying most attention to the mounting points
now go to autozone, or wherever you have to to find one for a '66 Mustang in stock, ask to measure that one
if they match up, snag it, you can always return it if you find that you got the wrong one

Looking through Summit's online catalog I've seen some aluminum radiators for around $200. Anyone have luck using an aluminum that fits with minimal modifications?

I bought a 3 row at Classic Mustang Inc for $150, fit like a glove , no problems.

My aluminum radiator was $179 from Afco, but it has no drain plug and no provision for a transmission cooler. It also has no mounts at all. You have to make them out of angle and bolts and a little imagination.

It's the 22" Ford radiator. They are all the same height, just different lengths. Speedway Motors has a similar one for $149.
