Info Needed - Fan Diameter

I just installed an aluminum fan and I had some clearance issues due to the flex fan being too long. After checking the various sizes, the only 2 available which would work were 16 7/8 and 15 inches. What I really needed was a 16 but that is not available.

Questions:

1) What is the stock fan diameter for a 289?

2) Is the 15" flex fan not capable of cooling the engine?

I'm sure the 15" would be fine.

I would use a stock fan before a "flex" fan, and a electric fan before either.
