Installing coated headers...

My headers are ceramic coated.
I am installing them with gasket and ultra copper on both sides...

should I clean the mounting surface on the headers of the coating or put the copper on over that? I cleaned the surface on the block free of paint (there was only a minor amount of overspray on there anyway...)

I would not do anything to damage the ceramic coating. Just wipe the urfaces dwon with laquer thinner.

I'd say use the ultra copper anyways, no matter if a header gasket or the exhaust manifold gasket. There was a discussion of this situation earlier about the use of copper and gaskets.

Yeah I am firm on the Copper I have had more than a few people tell me about that... I also had a lot of porting done on the head and the shop actually suggested using the copper and some sheeting and tossing the gasket...

but I think it will be fine with a thin film of ultra and bang no problem.

My main concern was the coating.
And I think I will leave it alone... maybe use a small emory cloth to etch the surface.
