Got a new 200 motor for a 170 swap, and low and behold, they put a 1 1/2" intake on it rather than a 1 3/4" which = carb plate and carb don't fit. I really don't want to send the engine back, as I have basically started the assembly. Any ideas on how to fix this or do I need to get a different carb with a 1 1/2" throat and adapter? If thats the case, where could I find this set up?

Unless it was sated when you bought the engine....

They should send the correct head.

Howdy Mavnoob:

Details man!!! What carb did you have for the 1.75" TB? What head casting was it off of?

What casting # head did they send you with the new engine?

Are you going to takes Linc's advice and try to get the supplier to send the correct head for your application?

Adapting a 1.75" TB to a 1.5" hole is fairly easy with tapering into the top of the adapter and slotting the carb mounting holes. It doesn't fix the lack of volume in the log though. What is your need? If it's max power and higher rpms you'll miss the extra plenum volume. If it's a daily driver, you'll likely never notice.

Don't have the casting #'s right here, not sure what the wife did with them shen she cleaned the house. The carb off the 170 is a carter yf. This car will be a daily driver, possibly just weekends. I plan on calling the place tomorrow and see what they will do. Could have swore I told them 1.75, but you never know. If I am stuck with it, I guess I'll have to figure something out.
Thanks

Called the place and they are going to replace the head with the correct intake. Thanks for the advice.
