is there a 250 oil pan that the pan sits close to the pump?

i need more clearance at front.if i had a pan that barely cleared the oil pump it should work.my 75 maverick pan seems to clear the pump by about two inches.i could notch the pan below the pump and rebuild it closer but i would lose a lot of capacity.

If you wanted to build yourself an oil pan you could always modify the old one to be shorter, but wider so you won't lose any capacity. You could measure how much capacity you have by filling it up with five quarts of anything before you modify it, and mark where the oil level is. Then keep modifying until you're happy with its clearance and you're also still getting five quarts right at that line.

the clearance problem is at the front.past the pump i could run the sump to to rear of the engine.[or someone that can weld could...]

Are you are talking about moving the bottom of the sump closer to the oil pump pickup? Man that makes me uneasy. I would worry about flow into the pickup at cold temps and you are guaranteed to pick up the crud from the bottom of the pan.

no,the pickup is about eight? inches farther back.i thinking of raising the pan just to the back edge of the pump.the pickup bolts to the rear of the pump.i just read on another forum that i may can use a pan from a fox bodied mustang/fairmont.

Maybe someone could give better ideas or recomendations if we knew what you were trying to clear with this pan.
Are you putting a rack and pinion stearing setup under it?

i wanting to put it in an econovan.i need to move the engine forward for aod bellhousing clearance.the draglink is in the way.
