Not the most cost effective , but is a good unit , let me explain , If you are starting out with a pre 67 setup ( loadamatic ) it then makes more sense because your only choice in upgrades are , add a pertronix, and coil,or add a 67 and later dist and a pertronix and coil ( New and better plug wires are I feel to be a tune up area not a Ign upgrade all else considerd ), Now ,My area of above average expertese is in Distributors and Dist Recurving , so I feel I have a little more background knowledge on some combos ( the Falcon 6 being one of them ) if origonalty is THE only concern you need to face a fact , keeping the Loadamatic setup is a HUGE wall blocking better than stock performance, I will not even rebuild these units as I am a Hotrodder at heart! ( although I respect the NOS guys , its just not my thing ) that being said ,Using a Recurved-- ( and that doesnt mean you only uinstall a Mr Gasket spring kit and its done ) --67 and later dist that has both Mech and Vacuum adv capibilities , along with a pertronix , and good coil is ALL 99.5 percent of what is needed MONEY WISE, Why you may ask ?, well after 30 plus years of working on all types of Engines and Tuning particular combos , I can tell without any guessing that the Falcon 6s do not need more than what I just mentioned, and here is why, Mostly its RPM range and thats off idle to 4500 on 85 percent of combos,Also the higher RPM combos that are out there are still easily met by a Recurved Stock 67 and later ( duraspark as well ) setups , On my Dist machine a properly setup 67-and later will show stable through 7000 rpms , and thats with the standard Ford supplied bushing ( in good shape of course ) My combo has a Recurved and Refurbished Duraspark with a MSD Blater coil , Taylor 8mm Spiral Pro wires and a Stock GM HEI , 4 pin Module ( alone good for 7000 ) , If I was going with a boosted setup , ( Blower or Turbo , ) I would still recomend a Durasdpark and a MSD BTM or equivelent ,but very few are going this route, The Davis Unified Ignition setup is fine ( I personally dont like its looks , but it is a simple unit and does the job ) And if you have No Dist at all or you need to upgrade ( pre 67 setup ) it is a good option , just more money , than most need to spend , so pick a goal , along with your budget , then make the choice !!
