After a day of college and work, I arrived home, and almost chose not to go into the garage. I decided that I should enjoy the decent weather, tired or not, and open up the garage. I went over the recent carburetor issue in my mind over and over: Primary throttle plate not closing all the way, causing the engine to "race" at idle - gasket is fine - fuel mixture screw backed out all the way and does not even change idle speed. I looked the old Holley 2bbl carburetor over and started to play with the throttle lever. I opened the lever all the way, and let it close but kept my finger on the secondary throttle, not allowing it to close. When I took my finger away I noticed that the primary throttle plate was not closed all the way, even with the fuel mixture screw backed all the way out, just like the new carburetor! I do not know exactly how I fixed it, but I had to fully rotate the throttle lever again and readjust a lever in the choke area. I made the same adjustment to the new carburetor and it works!
I would like to thank everyone who helped me in the previous post, I really appreciate it. Now I can drive the Mustang again...wait, no I cannot. I need to order a cable throttle.
Thanks,
Justin
