Leaking

Im putting in some mechanical Sunpro gauges tonight and the good news is I have more oil pressure than I thought I did and the bad news is with the pressure the oil is leaking out of the gauge onto my carpet. Its leaking from where the little plastic hose goes into the first nut that has the smaller thing inside it...I know the description sucks but can anyone tell me what will make this stop? Gasket sealant?

you should have had a compression seal on the line when it was installed
it's possible that isn't on there correctly, or isn't tight enough

make sure it's on there correctly before tightening down on it though, depending on the materal of the compression seal when you tighten it up it can cut through the line

Chandler,
Should not be leaking. Make sure you put all the parts on in the correct order. Specifically the compression fitting on the hose. Check the instructions and go to the Sunpro web site for more info.
Also check everything is good and tight.
There is no way you can have more pressure than your gage can handle in a six. What is the gage top end...90 psi?
Good luck.

Ok I got the leak fixed, the little thing was backwards. Theres no way it was to much pressure top end of the gauge is 100 and my idle is 30ish. Heres the next question-Where should I install the water temp sender? The stock location or in the thermostat housing in place of the thing with the vacuum line from the carb to the dizzy and just connect that line?

I made the mistake one time of firing up an newly installed engine in my Vette, but I did not tighten the oil pressure line fitting. 30 psi of pressure is enough to send a nice stream of oil up on to the ceiling of the garage where it then proceeds to rain back down on the car. In order to protect my own idiocracy, I should have said that Slade's friend, a fellar that goes by the handle of Bob did all that.

I installed my temp sender in the stock location. No need for the stock temp guage if you have an aftermarket gauge. Plus it seems that it'd be more accurate.

The temp sensor should go on the back of the block on the driver's side.
Here is a pic of where the sensor should go. I removed this T and short pipe nipple and put my sensor in the coolant flow directly in the head. No idea why a T was there. Works great and reads real accurately now. Use a good thread sealant or teflon tape to prevent leaks. Don't overtighten.
Cheers,
