Lifter noise

Hey all. I have a 200 6 cylinder that is running the tri-carb set up. I finally got my exhaust on and noticed there is a tapping noise in a lifter. I have narrowed it down to which one it is. But my problem is when i was doing adjustments to it, the adjusting bolt was screwed all the way down and there was still slight play in the rod. All the lifters were new . There is only about maybe 30 to 40 miles on them. Do you think it might be a bad lifter? Or maybe the lobe on my cam went flat?. When i first did the initial adjustments on the lifters the bolt did not adjust all the way down like it is now. But i do remember it being tightend further than the rest.

I checked for the bent pushrod and all was ok with that. I am just wondering how common a cam lobe going flat is?

not very common, at least not common for only one. You lifter may not be pumping up right. I would suspect a bad lifter.

You might have one sticking. You might add some Marvel Mystery oil to the oil and let it run awhile and see if that frees it up. Worked for me one time. Then change the oil. Just the oil change may help it too.
