I have not seen this mentioned yet but does anyone have experience with having headers custom fabbed? With Hooker 6601's over $600 plus shipping can a custom exhaust shop get close to that? The guy I bought my first 250 from had a flange he made or had made and was going to make his own headers. I forgot about that it is out in the garage somewhere.

Pacemaker in Australia makes some pretty ones. They are supposed to get back to me after a test fit of the 4425 and 4440 on a US Mustang. I've seen them for $225USD + ~$140 for shipping. I can let you know when I hear back.

Also, the Hooker 6601 can be gotten for ~$440 if you don't go the ceramic route.

Thanks. Yes they do make a nice long tube and 225 plus that shipping quote is actually very reasonable. I have a 250 in a bronco and they might not be able to test fit that. Could there be a lower shipping cost for multiple headers?

Maybe. I'm kind of loving that 4440 setup and intend to get one if it fits. I sent them another email today to find out how the fitment check went. Based on history, it may take a few days to get a response, but I'll ask the question when I hear from them.

Be careful, all of the Australian engines have highmount starters, even the 250s.

They may not work on our low mount starter 250s.

Good info. I forgot about the Australian 200 being taller than US 200 also. Not sure about the 250.

Yeah. That's why i haven't pulled the trigger yet. Crossin my fingers though.....

I wouldn't worry to much on the height of the OZ 200, as I would the starter interfering with the header if used on a 250.

that's Y I got the 'stang V6 starter 4 my bronk
but even so - I got the CI stainless…
I consider them shorties (better 4 Tq I believe)

After thinking about that $440 for the Hooker 6601 that is a reasonable alternative. Certainly not inexpensive but you only have to buy them once. At least we have one long tube option here in the states. What is the source you found for that price? When I looked on Summit they were over $600 I believe and to me that is just too high.

Yeah thats gettin up there. Plus shipping I suppose.
A mechanic friend offered to let me use his discount at NAPA one time I wonder if summit gives a discount to mechanics. Haven't talked to him for a while.

Just heard back from pacemaker. Their install on a "proper" left hand drive vehicle was successful. They even sent some pics of the install. I'll post them when I get a chance. I got pics of the 4425 as installed and was assured the 4440 would fit with no problem. I can get a quote for a couple sets with shipping, he just needs to know how many would need crated up. Personally, i like the long tube 4440 so that's what I'm going to inquire about. I believe the 4425 is very similar to the CI header, based upon the pics I've seen.

I'll wait a few days before I respond so that folks can mull it over.

Cheers.

careful, that photobucket site might have all sorta sh*! attached.

may B it's just me.

Looks like (in all but 1 pic) the tubes run inside the frame - I think THAT precludes the '66 - '77 bronk.
I bet the ceramic like that duz nice.

Thanks bobcat ~

So the headers are 295AUD which is awesome. Shipping is 245 AUD to IA. This is just north of $400 cash American. Cheaper than hookers with free shipping.
