Looking for a "Quiet" muffler

Hi Everybody,

I hope I can get some opinions here. I have a 64 1/2 Mustang with a 170. I've got a single out header, Pertronix ignition, and am looking to put on a Holley 5200. My goal is a smoother and better running engine, nothing I want to race around in.

I drive this car to work everyday on the freeway and I want a decent performance muffler, but I would also like it to be as quiet as possible.

Can I get some opinions as to what a good "Quiet" muffler would be?

Thanks,

Mark

i believe that the "turbo" style mufflers are good and quiet, usually a pretty decent price too

no matter how quiet people say some flowmasters are (like the 50 series), they are still way too loud for my taste. In fact, I'm going to generic turbos next month.

Try to get a "Walker "Quiet tone" muffler. Believe that would be a good choice.

I hear that Borla makes a fairly quiet muffler, but have no personal experience.

I know a hi-flo cat + a glasspack is pretty decent quiet unless im reving it to the max but you said yer driving it everyday.. so

I went with a Walker Turbo. At first I didn't like the tone at around 3000 rpm. But after a few miles it settled in and now has a very nice sound and pretty quite.

my stock exhaust was quiet...sh!tty cat.-sh!tty muffler-sh!tty-sound supressor thing...but it was quiet.

i JUST put a thrush turbo onto my 200 six. i have the pipe down then where the cat was i put the muffler and have a down pipe coming from the other side of it. very quiet!! good performer and still decent enough sound. plus i only paid 17.88 for it.
