I'm looking for members who are interested in up grading their exhaust systems, and live around Troy or Nottawa, Michigan.

The past few weeks, I've been talking with the owner of Waldron's Antique Exhaust. They are interesed in producing a couple of custom exhaust kits for us, however they need a couple of cars to work on. The vehicle would need to be left at one of their shops for a couple of weeks, while they develop the different systems. In the end, you would wind up with a new custom tailored exhaust system, at a reduced price.

We have several ideas, but the only way to see what works, is to have a vehicle to work on. Hence we'll need one Mustang and one Falcon.

The three systems we've discussed are:

A 2" to 2 1/2" single exhaust system (similar to stock) with a performance muffler.

A dual out, where the pipes travel down the same side and exit on the same side (side by side). This system would incorperate a custom dual in dual out muffler, which they will produce. The muffler would be 5" high and 10" wide, with the lenght determined during development.

A dual out system with the pipes exiting in stock dual out locations (GT style). This system would incorperate dual pipes with dual mufflers. The mufflers could be old school glass packs, their "Impostor" mufflers, or their Arvinode reproduction mufflers.

Either system would be fairly loud, but could be toned down with an optional short resonator at the end of each tailpipe. This would maintain some serious flow rates, while making it “drivableâ€￾ without resonance or drone issues.

Both dual systems would incorperate a narrow X pipe, or H connector, for improved performance and sound.

If interested, contact me via PM or e-mail. Thanks.

Waldron's Antique Exhaust seems to be an interesting company. Looking through the list of cars and trucks for which they offer exhaust systems leaves me thinking that these folks have been doing this sort of thing for a long time.

They also have some very interesting products, one of which stood out in my mind as being unique -- their "Driver Controlled Exhaust (DCE) muffler."

It's sort of a cross between a muffler and a cut-out, except the exhaust always goes through the muffler (in one way or another) and out the tailpipe. The video on the page linked demonstrates how that alters the sound of a car using one of these mufflers.

I got a friend who lives in Adrian, but thats pretty much right between either of them. She's got an older round body Falcon that was her first car, and I can only imagine the exhaust is somewhat rotted out on it by this point, though I know for sure it still runs. I'll send her the link at least.

Mike's gonna need to be looking for someone in the Sturgis, Centreville, Three Rivers, Constantine, Schoolcraft or K-Zoo Michigan area.

Troys a bit of a drive from Nottawa! :D :D :D

Later,

Doug

Mike:

You may want to find someone with a convertible as the floor configuration is different. There is a square crossplate that bolts to the floor section and the stock configuration is a single out with the pipe going over the plate near the tunnel section. The routing of the pipe is similar to other body styles except for the fact above. One could just bypass that area and run the pipe back just under the floorboard, thus eliminating the clearance issue. There is not that much room between the crossplate and the tunnel section where the stock pipe disappears.
