I think I see where you are going with this, I have plenty of time and I am in college too so I understand your son's perspective 
I have a few ideas I might look into trying before all is said and done. I think I will look into mounting mine high but still on the drivers side, I have been wanting a cowl hood so here is a great excuse to buy one
