Thanks to 66 Fastback 200 for the info on manuals! I wonder, though, whether the _year_ of the manual makes a difference. My 250 has a '72 block and an '80 head. Am I better off going for a '72 manual, or an '80 manual, or does it not really matter?

Also, for the rest of the group: I live in about the middle of North Carolina -- approx 30 mi west of Raleigh and about 2.5 hr away from Charlotte, if that helps. I've been on the lookout for someone with experience and tools to do some machining, valve work, balancing, etc., for an inline, but have yet to have any luck. Does anyone in this forum know of a shop/person in NC they'd be comfortable with working on their inline?

Thanks again!

There are a couple of decent shops in and around Wilmington. I know it would be a long haul for you, but thought I would mention these since nobody else seems to know of anyone.

R & R 910 799-3133
Edwards 910 675-1108
Chadwick's 910 371-9516

R & R and Edwards probably best bet. Chadwick is good, but seems offended if somebody brings in something non-Chevy.

Thanks for the info. I'll give them a call -- I was in Rose Hill on Friday, so another 40 +/- miles isn't so bad. Pretty much wipes out my hopes of being able to visit the shop while the engine work as being done, but that's OK. One of them may also know of someone in the Piedmont.

Thanks again!
