Is there a mini starter for a 200 or a smaller dia one from another application? Raymond

I was able to make one of these work. You have to rotate the mount to clear the block.

Jack, that's the BB Ford 'FE' mount right? I hope so, cause that's what I have on order for my new engine build.

1989 TBird 3.8 starter worked with my 250, not sure if it would work for you or not.

The 3.8 starter works great on the 250. Musch more compact and better header clearance.

On the gear drive starter, there is one critical dimension. You have to measure how long your starter nose is. Some are only 2" from face to tip, others are 2 3/8". I'm using a long nose version (CVR #5049). You may need a short version depending on the transmission and flywheel (CVR #5056).

Outwardly the two gear drive starters look the same, but the replacement for the long nose has an engagement that is a bit longer to pull the starter gear out further.

The CVR websitehas a good dimension page that shows you the size of these.

Hey guys, don't forget to get the starter nose machined for converter bolt clearance if you have an automatic trans. William
