Not to hijack, but I'm curious what the advantages of the mini starter are. Other than having more room to work around it, what are the other benefits? Is it overkill on a basically stock 200? Still in the planning stages and wondering what to (eventually) replace/ upgrade.
What I think is the biggest advatage is header clearance. Also they do spin your motor over faster. It almost sounds like you have no compression when cranking. I have one in my Comet with a 302 V-8. If I ever have to replace the starter on my 6 cyl. Ranchero, I will install one of the mini starters. Just so I don't have to remove the header to change the starter.
