More Engine Problems. Runs but doesn't drive

Yesterday was the first time I heard my rebuilt engine start. It made me so happy, and I wouldn't have been able to do it without you guys. I ran it for 20 minutes to break in the cam as you guys suggested, and then changed the oil. By that time, it was late, and I didnt want to go out and do inital engine breakin in the dark, just in case, so i was going to work on it this morning.

I got the engine started and let it warm up. I shifted it into drive, pushed the gas, and it died. I tried again, and it did the same thing.

The timing is still set at 0* TDC, could this be the problem? And I don't really have access to a timing light. If this is the suspected problem, could I simply use the timing pointers and the mark on the damper to set my timing?

Also, although it isnt recommended to break in your new engine with a new carb, I had no other choice. I used an E0 head and I wasnt able to run my old Autolite 1100.

It presently has an Autolite 1101. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll let the guys who really know what there talking about answere though

Is the parking break off and is there nothing blocking your wheels?

ive made that mistake

Did you remove the engine? Is it a manual? I had the same problem after my rebuild and I had to ajust the clutch. Either wya you need a timing light. Rent one from autozone. I can't say enough on how important having one is. I would have never got mine running with out one. Try setting the timing and repost

It's a c4 auto.

I'm presently back in austin for school again, so i guess i'll be waiting another month until i return home.

Ill rent the timing light, what should i set the timing to? What do you recommend with my current setup?

E0 head- milled to 50cc.
Block bored .040 over.
About a 9.2 : 1 CR.
Pertronix ignition
Autolite Platinum Plugs @ .45
Stock cam

At 0 degrees timing, it will start well, but run very poorly.
Also check for a vacuum leak.
Either one will cause the symptoms you describe.

Yea, I believe the fuel pump is correctly installed. I get fuel when I crank the engine, and it is pumping when the engine is running. I dont think you can put the lever on top of the cam when installing the fuel pump anyway.

Thanks for your replies.
