I looked at two mavericks today in my search for a carb for my 200, and didn't come away with anything except confusion- Ford must have been very inconsistant with the parts they used back then. The first one I think was a '70 as it had a '69 head. It had the big carb hole with small bolt pattern. Someone else on this forum just got a Carter 1bbl off a '70 maverick and said it had the wide bolt pattern- differant than this car had. I was going to go and order a '70 maverick 1bbl and expect to get a 1.75 bore carter and wide bolt pattern, but now I'm not sure what to get (this car had an earlier small bore holley on it- no use to me)
This car also had linkage I had not seen before- cable linkage, but not across the valve cover like the 250 maverick I saw (with a Carter RBS) It was in the same position as on our early cars- right above the exhaust manifold. I would have gotten it, but they wanted about $25 for it. They wanted $45 ea. for the RBS and air cleaner housing, so I passed. I couldn't get them off anyhow since there was another car stacked on top. For that price I can get a rebuilt carb and chrome housing!
