my c3 tranny is getting really hot

i have one problem i would like to fix before i take my car in for smog. the transmission is getting really hot. the shifter shaft is almost hot enough to burn my hand. is there anything you guys can think of that will cause this. i blew a tranny line a couple days ago and i filled the system and clamped the rubber hose to the line and filled it back up just to get it home from about 2 minutes away from my house. oh yeah, the tranny is a c3.

The line goes to the cooler. Clamp it off and the heat will rise rapidly. Drive like that for long and the tranny will be toast.
