I have a 66 200 I-6 with a C4, that is in less then showroom-weekend driver condition. When I accelerate up a hill, or at all for that matter, it makes a sounds that kinda sounds like "vvvvvvvrrrrreEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" like an electric car or scooter charging up or accelerating. Is this normal? If not, What can i do to fix it?

didn't they tell you about the "wind-up key" in the trunk when you bought the car?

Before going up a hill, pull over and wind it up. Then it will make hills no problem...

hee

I have the same problem, in my case it's the first gear of my C4.
Don't know what exactly it is, could be fluid level, I have a small leak.
AND, my car's rear is a bit lowered (old leafsprings), it's just like a plane taking off...

Does the sound appear with the radio powered on? Sometimes you need a ballister on your coil...ZZ

(Back from scanning in the factory C4 service manual...)

It's probably the front clutch. Does it happen in reverse? Can you stall the car?

Budget some for another box or rebuild. Lowrider, sounds like you just need the hostess to strap you in that seat.

Regards, Adam.

Well, that's one way to get off the ground, the other is a new engine... 8)
PS: what does "stall the car" mean? I rebuilt my C4 a while back and I recall still having the sound.

I mean, with the footbrake firmly on, can you press the accelerator slowly in "Drive" and the engine stalls?

There's over 60 pages on the C4 (possibly the same as in the Mustang manuals). I don't yet understand some of it, but there are some good diagnostics charts. The disappointment really is that only a hobbyist would have time to perform all the tests "required", and they likely couldn't afford some of the equipment.

Adam.

(BTW, there is a crossflow C4 available if you're keen.)

are you sure its not the diff? my buddy had a 67 mustang and when you

were on the freeway in it it would kinda make a noise like that. Does it

make the noise at idle?/ in neutral?
