Need engine mounts that'll drop my 250 in my '65 mustang

My 250 in my '65 mustang sits too high and won't clear the hood except with a terrible Vega air cleaner. Are there engine mounts that I can buy that will drop the engine 1.5" or so? I know I can drill the bolt holes on the existing mounts, but that'll weaken them, and won't give me enough drop anyway.

I don't know how accurate this is, but someone told me a few years back that the Maverick mounts and I believe brackets too are needed to lower it, but then there was a concern about the oil pan on front sump pans rubbing/interfereing with the Center link or crossmember. However, I think it worked but they had to reverse the center link......or something to that effect....Others here have done it though...I am sure they will chime in here. I am interested in what others have to say because I wouldn't mind having one someday for my '65.

I have a 250 in my '65 Mustang. The center link is installed upside-down and works fine, but hits the starter at the extreme ends of the steering range. That really only becomes a vibration issue when you're waiting to turn at a stop sign or pulling out of a parking space.

As for what mounts were used, I do not know. They did have to move them, but I don't know the details.

But I'm also in the middle of a Granada brake swap and don't know what that's going to do to the situation. I'm wondering if I can get a mini-starter to solve any clearance problems.

A 3.8 V6 starter is smaller and will help clearance issues. The holes on the stock mounts can be filed to drop the engine and get about 3/4" more clearance.
