Workin on my friends 68 stang with a bone stock six, been sitting in a yard for 10 years or so. put a new carb on it fresh gas in the tank plugs wires cap rotor points condenser ext. it fires and runs great except when you put the thing into gear it runs realy rough and dies if you dont power brake it. put my vacume gauge on it and it doesnt hold constant vacume. its running about 15 but it isnt keeping steady. almost like a intake valve or what not. well guys what do you think

I would tear the carb down and clean it well. Old fuel can turn to varnish and cause blockages. I would also check for vacume leaks. Old hoses will crack and leak.

Speaking of old hoses check all of the fuel lines and make shure you aren't about to start a fire.

carb is good shot it out with carb cleaner and what not. it all clean and the float is set and everything. it is still not holding steady vacume and dies in gear if you dont power brake it.

Put a dwell meter on it and make sure the points are working ok. The plate in the dist that the points bolt to can have wear and move around causing the points setting to be eratic.
