Reassembling my 65 200 engine compartment and I plan to leave the original A/C compressor off. The humongous bracket for the A/C had the alternator mounting points welded on, so I ordered a new set of alternator brackets for non A/C. I assume the L bracket with the adjusting slot mounts to the upper left water pump bolt, but I can't figure out how the triangle bracket mounts. Any help, or pictures?

Also, this arrangement seems kind of flimsy. The old bracket on the A/C mount had holes fore and aft for the long lower alterator bolt. Is there supposed to be some other support for the back side of the alternator on a non A/C engine?

Here's what I've got:

thanks for any help.

The brackets picture in the link look like V8 brackets to me. Let me see if I can dig up some brackets. It a piece that bolts to the block near the bottom passenger side, and a curved adjustment piece from the top.

I'm afraid this is the best I could come up with. I'll go out and see if I can get a better picture of the mounting on the block. It's basically the same as the generator mounting, just not so wide.

Here's a much better shot from underneath. The engine is mounted in a 64 econoline.

You've mistakenly got V-8 brackets. On a V-8 the main pivot bolt goes through the triangle bracket and threads into the head. On the six, the pivot bolt goes through a U shaped bracket as shown in the excellent pictures above.

Thanks guys. None of the sites I checked showed any distinction between brackets for a six and an eight. Any idea where I can get the lower U bracket?

Anybody need a set of 8 cyl alternator brackets?
