I have an Ign II, and wouldn't ever go back to points. Put over 10k miles on my Mustang with it. I did have trouble with the first one, but it was my fault. I didn't have the points plate properly grounded, and it overheated the unit within a few hours. Pertronix stood behind the product and replaced it for free, no questions asked. They even sent a 'failure analysis' worksheet with the new unit, showing their diagnostic findings on the failed unit. It basically said I didn't have it grounded properly, which I knew, but hadn't told them. Its been in there for 2 years now, has never missed a beat, and provides noticably better performance and cleaner tailpipe emissions (OTC 5-gas in-flight analyser; lower HC, lower CO, lower O2, moderate CO2 and NOx), and better fuel economy (19-21 hwy vs 16-18 hwy w/ points) on a near stock, 4v 260 v8. Basically, I haven't found any reason to fault the product.
