NEW one barrel carb choices

I've about had it with the three original 1100 one barrel carbs I have- I've tried to make one decent runnning carb out of the parts with no real luck. Two of the top halves are so warped they won't seal, and only one of them runs half way decent. I can't get the off-idle hesitation to go away whether I shorten or lengthen the accel. pump rod stroke (no, the factory 3/16 spec does not work!) :? I know it's the carb as I did not have this problem with the 2bbl- it had other problems.

What is the best new one barrel carb out there that will bolt on and run good? I've wasted time with rebuilt carbs bought from the parts store- I want something that's not a 40 y/o carb. My old comet had and aftermarket holley but I was not too impressed with it.

I've heard that the one barrel webber is comparable in performance to an 1100 rebuilt by pony carbs, and costs less, but don't know where to get one. I was hoping to get a larger one barrel for a 250 and eventually put in on my 200, but don't want to deal with adapting it to the 170 head right now as I've got too many other projects. At his point I just want a good stock carb. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

s-man, i have a pony carburetor with a 215 cfm flow on my mustang now. the carburetor is an 1100 with the 223 six venturi, which flows more.
mine works fine.
very future modifications are a later head,350 cfm holley on a milled log. plus hooker 6601 headers, fspp 264 cam with 1.6 roller rockers.
but for an easy bolt on go with the pony carb setup, linkage & fuel line are a easy bolt up. good luck william

what is the smallest inside diameter of that 223six venturi?

I have access to a CNC machine for a couple of days ... in the mood for some experiments...

wsa111,

Since I don't have the "proper" core (have early carb and pony won't take that as a core exchange) they wanted about $200 for the bluprinted 200 ci 1100, or maybe the 1101, and that was a few years back. Too much for my pocket!
