okay I see you classify the 250 as a small 6 and the 240 as the big six

why?

also I have a 74 f-100 with a bad 240 I found a granada with a 250 with bad tranny both are auto's so can I us the 250 in my truck that has a 240 or it apple and oranges???? if it was a v-8 motors I could tell ya but these 6 are new to me

thanks

The 240/300 are similar engines, "bigger" then the 200/250 family. The 240/300s are in trucks and would be a very hard fit in the smaller cars. the 200/250 is found in the passanger cars.

8) The 233 / 240 / 300 are great truck engines to my mind. Swapping one into a car is possible, but the coast may not be woth it. Using a rebuilt 200 / 250 maybe the best route.

I think this guy's question is whether or not he can use a 250 in his pickup.

Yes, the bellhousing will bolt up just fine to your tranny and height/length wise it will fit fine, but you will run into some problems with the engine mounts. Take a close look at how far off they are and if you might have to fabricate some new brackets. You are also likely to have a problem with radiator hose fitment. Not impossible, but in the end, you might be better off repairing your 240 or just look at this as the opportunity to find a good 300 to replace the 240 with. That swap is much simpler.
