i have a 68 200ci that i am rebuildnig. the new oil pump i got has a gasket thats goes between the pickup and the pump but none for the oil pump to block connnection. the manual is kind of hard to understand, i can't figure out if there is supposed to be a gasket between the pump and block or not.

anyone know?

thanks!

When I replaced my oil pump, there was a gasket at the block. When I went to buy the replacement oil pump, the only gasket I could get was for the pickup on the pump. I got some gasket paper and made a gasket for the block. So far no problems when the engine was running.

i figured i would have to make one on my own.

what type of gasket material did you use? is the cork stuff ok?

Hi,
I would not use cork stick with a gasket paper, Most auto parts stores carry it in rolls

I agree with Chris, the OEM gasket was made of a thin paper gasket material. I would not use cork.
